Your Own Scarf Design with the Intarsia Technique

In this workshop, everything revolves around creating your very own intarsia motif for a personalised scarf. From inspiration to your own design: we will plan your scarf using garter stitch intarsia or marled intarsia and transform your inspiration into a knitting chart. We will discuss material and color combinations, and then everyone will begin knitting their scarf based on their own chart.
During her master’s studies in textile design, Anna discovered the collage technique for her work: using paper collages, she sketches motifs and compositions or gathers interesting color combinations. Most of her collages are created on-site, capturing the mood of a landscape, scenery, or specific motifs in an abstract way. She then transfers these illustrations to textiles by filling the shapes with different materials and colors.
Anna Husemann is a textile and knitwear designer from Hamburg. During her master's studies in textile design, she discovered her love for colorful patterns and focused on eco-friendly materials and sustainable textiles. Her work revolves around the interplay of color, shape, and material, which she prefers to bring to life using the intarsia knitting technique.
Please bring:
Knitting needles size 3–5 mm and yarn you’d like to use.
Inspiration for your design: for example, a photo, an art postcard, a special yarn, or particular colors.
You can create your design either analog or digital. If you wish to design and edit your motif digitally, please bring a laptop or tablet.
Workshop Info:
Basic knitting skills required. The workshop will be held in German, English and French and Luxembourgish. Don't worry, we are used to switching back and forth.
120 €, without additional materials. One hot drink and water are included in the course fee.
